Thymosin Beta 4 has been found to support protection and regeneration of damaged tissues, so it is primarily recommended to assist in the healing of acute injury, post-surgically, and for older athletes. It has also been shown to be beneficial for hair loss, as an anti-inflammatory, and has been studied for the treatment of cardiac wound repair, hypoxic heart disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and changes in brain and nervous system function related to infections or autoimmune disease. The proposed mechanism of action involves upregulation of actin, a protein important in the function of muscle cells and movement in other cell types.
Tβ4 is prescribed as daily subcutaneous injections, taken for 20 days minimum up to 3 months. It can be self-administered by the patient after training or administered by clinical staff in our office.
